π‘οΈ Buying & selling safely
GoneLot is an independent marketplace. These rules keep it a safe one.
For buyers
- Pay with the GoneLot Wallet whenever you can. Escrow means the seller only gets paid after you confirm delivery β it is your strongest protection.
- If you pay the seller directly (PayPal, crypto, bank transfer), you're trusting them personally β crypto especially is irreversible. Prefer sellers with a β Verified badge and a solid review history.
- Keep all communication in GoneLot messages β it's your evidence if something goes wrong.
- Never pay outside the order page a listing created. Anyone asking you to "close the deal elsewhere" is a red flag.
- For local pickup: meet in a public place, inspect before you hand over money.
- Something wrong? Open a dispute from the order page β escrowed money stays locked until the owner rules on it.
For sellers
- Photograph the real item, describe flaws honestly β your review score is your storefront.
- Ship only after payment is confirmed (escrow shows as secured on the order automatically).
- Always add a tracking number β it protects you in a dispute.
- Don't accept overpayment + "refund the difference" requests β that's a classic scam.
- Get verified by the site owner to earn the β Verified badge.
What GoneLot itself guarantees
- Escrow: wallet payments are held by the platform and released only on confirmed delivery β or refunded via dispute.
- No card data stored: the site never sees or stores card numbers. Top-ups run through a payment processor.
- Moderation: every listing can be reported; the owner reviews reports and disputes and can pull listings.
- Transparent fees: zero platform fees β the hammer price is the whole price.
- Permanent records: bids, orders, messages, and reviews are kept β deals here have a paper trail.
